MAC mineralize skinfinish | soft & gentle

At first I wasn't too keen on this product, I'd been intrigued by it after seeing Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter rave about it so much on her YouTube channels. The lovely healthy glow she always had encouraged me to buy it as I wanted to look as glowing as she always did, so I couldn't help but be disappointed when I didn't achieve that & ended up looking like a shimmery glitterball! I stopped using it for ages but over the festive period I gave it another go & ended up absolutely loving it. I've learnt to apply it properly now using a Real Techniques Setting Brush I only use a teeny tiny amount over my cheekbones & brow bones. Originally I was too heavy handed with it & because I'm so pale I had golden peach glittery streaks across my face rather than a nice gentle shimmery glow! It's a really pretty product which I use most days now I know how to use it & definitely gives my a skin a boost, especially when I'm looking extra sleepy! I mainly use this for nights out or special occasions but also use it during the day if my skin needs brightening up. I like to add highlighter to my cheek & brow bones as I think it's the perfect finishing touch to a makeup look!

MAC paint pot | bare study

(MAC have sneaked their prices up again, I definitely didn't pay that much!)

These little glass pots of cream eyeshadows are absolutely perfect for someone like me who is pretty clueless when it comes to applying eyeshadows, no matter how many YouTube tutorials I watch I can never achieve nicely applied eyeshadow... one day I will master the smokey eye look! MAC Paint Pots claim to be 'a highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish'.

Bare Study is a shimmery beige, champagne kinda colour in a frost finish. I use my finger to apply this as the heat warms the product up making it easier to put on to my eyelid. I don't do any special techniques I simply rub it all over my eyelid & voila! Although I will say it gets a little bit awkward to blend or remove once it's dried so I apply a little bit & build it up if necessary, rather than cake a load on & then be stuck with overly shimmery eyelids. I quite like using this on its own along with flicked eyeliner but I can see this being a lovely base to build on if you're more of an expert in the eyeshadow world!

I know there are lots of cream eyeshadows available on the high street & I've heard the Maybelline Colour Tattoos are really good dupes, so I'm going to have a look at these next before I invest anymore money on another MAC one! What is your favourite shade & what other dupes are available for me to have a look at?

MAC ruby woo lipstick

MAC Ruby Woo - £14

MAC Ruby Woo is a blue toned red lipstick with a matte finish. My sister picked this up for me as a birthday present, I left her to choose as I'm way too indecisive & I'm so happy with her selection! I am forever wearing either dark or red lips so this is a great colour to add to my collection as I know I'll get a lot of wear from it. As Ruby Woo is from the matte range I was a little worried I'd struggle to apply it as my lips aren't in the best of conditions! However I make sure I use my LUSH popcorn lip scrub & apply lip balm before application which makes life a bit easier! Although it's not the easiest lipstick to use, the colour pay off & wear time really makes up for it, I don't find myself having to touch up as often as I do with others. I definitely can see this becoming my go to red lipstick, as it's the perfect shade!

What do you think of the matte formula? Have you tried MAC's Ruby Woo before?

wednesday wishlist #1

one | two | three | four | five | six

One - Finally got an iPhone 4S today after months of heartbreak over my stolen iPhone 4, so I am going to treat myself to a ridiculous case! I did have the Rilakkuma case with ears originally!

Two - When I became a University student I promised myself to not splurge on high end makeup as I knew I wouldn't be able to afford it, I stuck to my rule and used Rimmel throughout the year, however it's summertime now and I've heard good things about MAC studio sculpt so I might invest! I used to wear MAC's studio fix fluid, which I loved (:

Three - This dress would be perfect for the wedding I'm attending in September, I'm addicted to the colour lilac at the mo! Plus the little gold tips are a lovely little touch.

Four - I never joined the hype when literally everyone had the double cross rings or the cross necklaces, but I do like this pearl cross necklace, I think it would go well with the dress I've also featured.

Five - FLATFORMS! I'm in love with these so badly, I need them in my life, the price is amazing too, so I'll probably be the owner of these very soon...

Six - The Minnie Mouse OPI collection is adorable, but Nothin' Mousie 'bout It' is my fave from the bunch! I'm a nail art addict, so I think it would be quite fun to try some designs out with the glitter hearts!

whats in my bag

I've seen quite a lot of people do these kind of posts and I always like them because I'm a nosey person! Sorry the second image is so shadowy, the lighting was being naughty so I gave up in the end and this was the best I had.

First image: Glasses, iPad 2 & Apple headphones, Hello Kitty compact mirror.
Second image (L-R): Vaseline hand & nail cream, Pink comb, Soap & Glory hand maid sanitizer gel, Barry m lipstick, 17 lipstick, MAC viva glam lipstick, Technic nail varnish in Carnival, MAC haute & naughty mascara, Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, L'oreal superliner liquid eyeliner, purse from River Island (years ago), Vaseline lip balm, rose bead bracelet from one of my best friends.

I didn't include a picture of my makeup bag because it's a complete mess, it was easier just to show a few of my nice makeup items. I also couldn't get a decent picture of my bag, but I'm currently using the Alexander Wang dupe, black with gold studs on the bottom, which was from eBay. I always have my Moleskine diary and pencil case too, but they featured in a post a few days ago so I thought it was pointless. I also have a lot of junk in my bag that wasn't photo worthy!!
